Aheh or Eheh or Eh Eh or Eh are often heard when talking to the Naija....

A sign of confirm or mere saying "I hear you and understand".

Come to think of it, everyone does it... No? Different sound, same meaning...I use "ek" or "uhuh" or even "mmmhmmmm" a lot!

NIGERIA: Kaduna State: Madam's Birthday Celebration (The Journey)

It's Madam's B'day +1 day today (August 15th) and we had booked a flight ticket to Kaduna to celebrate the occasion with an orphanage. She had requested her colleague, Zaharan  to help out with the event.

that far ek? (google map)
Kaduna is the capital of Kaduna State, which is just north of Abuja (Federal Capital Territory, FCT). It will be a 2hour flight to Kaduna. But the flight ticket indicated that we will stop for ab out 30minutes in Jos, Plateau State before continuing our journey to the final destination.

Pat down check or frisking were done the moment we entered the waiting area and just before boarding the aircraft at the tarmac. Throughly done though. The children were not spared. Oh by the way, we took Arik Air for this trip (www.arikair.com/ng)

we are on the Boeing 737-700
We departed at about 11.30am from Lagos and an hour and a half later, we landed at Jos. That was the first leg of the flight...Jos's Yakubu Gowon Airport reminded me of the old Ipoh Airport in Malaysia. A small airport, but the runway is rated for Boeing 737 or similar aircraft. The airport itself is undergoing massive renovation. A new and much modern terminal is being build by the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)...I think.

Jos to Kaduna only 30minutes flight
The captain informed that it will be a short flight to Kaduna from Jos. The new passengers boarded were actually on their way to Lagos. So the aircraft is actually making a huge circle around the country. The captain too made a check around the aircraft, but giving some attention to the port (left) side wing. I did asked my pilot friends on FB(A. Faizal Fauzi and Sazali Abdullah), and they told me maybe he was inspecting the red navigation light on the wing (finally....thanks to Nazmi James Zakaria)...but since a few days earlier, we had a helicopter crash into the Lagos Lagoon...it was a teeny weeny concern for me.

All seated, baggage stowed...we continued our journey. Plateau State from high above...looks rather flat, quite level...just like the name.

a very rare moment of Madam...trust me
It was a short flight, really. More of a hop.... as soon as we reached optimum altitude, the pilots were already beginning its descend towards Kaduna Airport. We landed around 2.00pm and finally taxied towards the terminal which is also under renovation. A bus waited to ferry us to a new building which was a few hundred meters away. There, Zaharan and the rest of the team were waiting for us since morning. We sped off towards the orphanage....not a moment to loose.

At last, Kaduna!!!!
Aheh....
