Aheh or Eheh or Eh Eh or Eh are often heard when talking to the Naija....

A sign of confirm or mere saying "I hear you and understand".

Come to think of it, everyone does it... No? Different sound, same meaning...I use "ek" or "uhuh" or even "mmmhmmmm" a lot!

Throwback: It's a Small World, after all!!!

When we arrived in Lagos, Nigeria the ladies of the expatriate community were gearing up for a yearly function called the Small World.

Founded in 1996 for a simple fact. The act of giving.

Giving back to the host nation, Nigeria which has given a lot to them thru raising money for selected local charities.

a few of the selected charities and the nation that sponsored them this year

The ticket, N10,000 (RM 180 / USD 50)
Small World event, at the Federal Palace Hotel ground

A small event attended by 300 people blossomed to 3000 many many years later. From an indoor foodfair and now an outdoor festival showcasing cuisine from over 30+ nations and cultural/dance performance afterwards. Basically a get together of people from all over the world in one night at Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.

We alighted at the drop off zone and made our way in. The place was jam-packed. Cars were lining up along the Ahmadu Bello Way making slow progress into the Federal Palace Hotel grounds.

one for the memories
Passed the usherette at the entrance, we were greeted with these....

booths?
booths, table and chairs?
eating in progress...aheh
I have to apologise to all. The blog was just a few post back then and I wasn't serious about it...so, the following were just a few pictures taken during the event. Even I didn't took any pictures during the cultural/dance performance.

Lebanon. I love the kebab(s)!

i think, beside the Lebanon booth was the Indonesia

best coffee!
I was busy eating and drinking (coffee, mind you). The finger food at the Russian booth was excellent! It was just bread and  salmon caviar called Ikra (thanks to Yuliya's Blog). It was heaven, the caviar popped in your mouth... I had seconds, thirds...fourths.. etc. Another version was bread with smoked fish as its topping. I hang around the booth and made sure I finished it. Now, I am missing it.

Around 8pm, the culture/dance show started. It started with the march of all performers and a slideshow about the charities these nation were sponsoring. Madam's vote for the Best Show that night goes to India with their upbeat performance. Her friend from the office, Joyce performed with the group from the Netherlands.

All in all, it was a great event. Looking forward to 2016...maybe I said it too early. As it goes, things can be pretty unpredictable here. Today (25th May,2015) the fuel problem in Nigeria reached all time low. Fuel price skyrocketed up to N400 (RM 7.20 / USD 2.00) per litre and maybe more. Heard in the evening, a settlement was reached but maybe for short term. The President-elect is due to take office on the 29th of this month, Friday. We can only hope, this problem will go away soon. Slowly but surely....
