Aheh or Eheh or Eh Eh or Eh are often heard when talking to the Naija....

A sign of confirm or mere saying "I hear you and understand".

Come to think of it, everyone does it... No? Different sound, same meaning...I use "ek" or "uhuh" or even "mmmhmmmm" a lot!

Throwback: Packing (December 2014)

Received a phone call from the mover company, they are coming over to asses the items in the house. Things to be packed and dismantle in a few days time (how many man hours, manpower needed, boxes, fragile items, beds and sofas etc). We are not new to this sort of arrangement. A modern day nomad, we are used to it. But this one is totally different...they will pack for you. I had to reconfirm with Madam about it as I am the beast of burden in the family (can't expect Ben or Fay to do it..and Madam was still commuting JB-Sin on daily basis)..so it was up to me...but to just monitor them.

Asian Tiger Movers...ready to pounce
I can tell you it was most unpleasant feeling. To see these guys sweating around the house packing everything and telling me to just watch and advise..great! (ukare' macha..means: sit down bro. in law)

Every items were packed together in a box or in the case of our bookcase, a box was made on the spot. It was 'fekkin' awesome! So does the sofa, childrens' bicycles and the electric piano too. It was precise...so much so much material, so much so much tape..etc... these are pro. Not much was wasted.

Custom-made box for the book case

3 in the living hall..another two in the bedroom. Hard at work
Me in green t-shirt just getting in the way. Btw, note the tiger emblem on the box..put two together and get a complete head of the tiger....nice
Living hall done with the sofas in their own box. You can see the bicycle box beside the tall bookcase.

Items to send back to our house in Bangi (yup, we rented this unit in Johor Bahru..Madam works across the cause way)
Good news is, they will unbox it and assemble everything back once they arrived at our place in Lagos, Nigeria. This is just too good to be true...I just feel a bit sissy not doing anything. Just went out for a while to buy some drinks for them and Madam bought KFC for lunch...but these guy soldiered on...indefatigable. They stop for lunch around 2pm (started at 10am) and proceeded to load all the items to a waiting lorry at the lobby slightly after 6pm.

The box will be in Lagos, when we arrive....ohhhhh how wrong we were. Wrong about 6weeks...

The refrigerator getting its own box and fragile sticker
The only picture I couldn't find was the wardrobe box. I think it was a very clever design. Just imagine a 5 feet standing box, with a row of holes in the middle of the box just like a clothes hanger rack. Just hang your clothes with the hanger inside the box and seal it with tape...clever. No more wasting time to iron all the clothes once in Lagos. Just transfer the whole lot to the closet once arrived.

The White Box

Of all the boxes, this one was different. Smaller than the rest and white in colour too. A big print "IMPORTANT bit and pieces" printed on the top flap suggested, that do not in any way loose it. Guard it with your life...put armed guards around it and around the guards another layer of trolls and golems to guard it. For it contained all the remotes, wires, adaptors, screws, bolts and nuts and manuals for the items we moved to Lagos.

The sole white box
"one box to assemble them all"
From time to time, you would see them seal the screws in plastic and tag them (item and from which room). I am pretty sure the mover in Lagos knows what to do. In this family, I do the worry...madam just told me it will be ok. I am the security guard, the night patrol man..the sentinel.. I am the all-the-time-worry sort of person. Always on alert..."Constant vigilance!", just like Alastor Moody said in the Harry Potter book series. Yup, I am him. 'Mad Eye Moody' they called him...Mad is a requirement of a father and Moody? Well, madam has to handle that part.

Hey, I think I AM Mad Eye Moody...hah!!!

Packing done, now looking forward to a trip to London. Left the apartment in Johor Bahru and drive back home in Bangi, Selangor. Good bye Bukit Chagar!!!
