Aheh or Eheh or Eh Eh or Eh are often heard when talking to the Naija....

A sign of confirm or mere saying "I hear you and understand".

Come to think of it, everyone does it... No? Different sound, same meaning...I use "ek" or "uhuh" or even "mmmhmmmm" a lot!

MALAYSIA: Seremban, Negeri Sembilan: (Throwback) Abang Chik's Akad Nikah (solemnization/marriage ceremony)

Another posting which is long overdue...anyway, I'm quite stuck actually. Posting like this jumpstarts the writing process all over again...

Date: July 25th, 2015
Venue: Masjid Hussain, Seremban 2, Negeri Sembilan

Another opportunity to practise, this time at madam's cousin akad nikah (solemnization) ceremony between Asri  a.k.a Abang Chik (madam's cousin) and Tini....at last!!!

Masjid Hussain, Seremban 2

Madam's mother (centre) and Wan Chik (left)

The rest of the ladies, Madam's side of the family.
Mak Teh (Madam's aunt in blue tudung) behind the sisters of the
groom ( Ain and Lin)

Ain (light pink tudung) and
Lin (chequered purple baju kurung), elder siblings of Asri

Tini, at the time this picture was taken not yet a wife to Asri

the hantaran or wedding gifts... the gifts will be in odd numbers and the bride gives more than the groom (still in odd number, though)
The ceremony started with a khutbah (sermon) nikah by the Imam. The take home message of the sermon was Taqwa (piety) or fear of Allah, Mindfulness of Allah. Lead a life according to Allah's guidance.

I remembered when it was my nikah, before the akad ceremony was done I was told to take a look at my bride. To confirm it was her and she did the same. It was funny thinking about it, but since the Imam asked....there must be a few incidents out there where the wrong bride married to the wrong groom.. or any last minute change of mind.

Asri's dad (Ayah Lin or Cikgu Dolah) in blue jubah. Beside him was Pak Teh (Mak Teh's husband)

The akad nikah ceremony
It is amazing, a few simple word recited properly and voila!! Husband and wife they become...all legal...

every ring has a story to tell...maybe stages in life

Husband and wife, at last...

Finally, finally photo of the bride and groom with family members...

No posting would be complete without me making fun of Madam. But not this time. Seated in the following picture is Madam's grandma. Grandma or affectionately known as Wan (pronounced as One...yup, the number) in Negeri Sembilan.

Madam and Wan
Wan or "General" (only we boys call her that behind her back) during big cookout for wedding kenduri (feast), eid will direct everything...from the preparation to the taste of each meal. Her nod of approval is the most important. Since she is important, and Madam is her favourite cucu (grandchild)...I got to Wan first, get her approval..then Madam's parents....smart...

Anyway, this posting is to Madam's family members back in Malaysia especially Wan in Senama Hilir, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.....Aheh!?
