Aheh or Eheh or Eh Eh or Eh are often heard when talking to the Naija....

A sign of confirm or mere saying "I hear you and understand".

Come to think of it, everyone does it... No? Different sound, same meaning...I use "ek" or "uhuh" or even "mmmhmmmm" a lot!

NIGERIA: Lagos: Banana Island Cultural Festival 2016

Counting how many times you've been to a certain festival is a sure way of knowing how long have you been around or in my case, in Nigeria. We didn't miss the Small World earlier this year and last year in October, there was the Banana Island Festival. This year too we celebrated our Eid al Kabir twice in a row (2015) & (2016).

We arrived very much later. We missed most of the performance, even the 'Poco-poco' dance by the Indonesian group. I think we were late for everything! Missed the nice food too!

My friend, Khairy and his family were there, we actually promised to meet up there but we arrived late. The festival also coincide with 56th Nigeria's Independence, which was on October 1st. Happy Birthday Nigeria!!!

We went from one booth to the other to check out the food and we started with Azerbaijan. Like last year, they had the rice with mutton and spinach wrap. I went for seconds, naturally but I lost Madam among the crowd. She came back with....sweet couscous from the Morocco booth. It was nice, had never tasted anything like it before.

Apart from the food, there were also some booths selling crafts, dress for girls, from a health shop...promoting some health product and awesome looking 'fat bikes'...you know, the ones with big tire (tyre) and a booth selling accessories, handbags and whatnots that would entice the ladies.

But the 'Best Dessert' goes to Indonesia. Maybe because we Malaysian and Indonesian had almost the same palate...about the same kind of food too. Lola, our friend said they served Nasi Lemak (coconut rice) earlier but it finish within the hour! As consolation, I had a bowl of nice pulut hitam  with santan (black glutinous rice in coconut milk). We have something similar back in Malaysia, but the consistency of the pulut is different and santan is added to it and not the other way around. But it was nice.....honest.

Other than that, we had coffee at one of the booth...was it Jamaica or Kenya. I can't recall but the aroma was intense. Most of the time, I hang out with Khairy. He suggested about organising our own booth next year. A Malaysia booth at the festival in 2017, awesome!!!

Maybe not too close to with the Indonesian team...mind you.
